Drive Away with Confidence

Chevrolet announces 2012 Chevy Confidence:

Total Confidence Pricing & Chevy Love it or Return It Guarantee

The Chevy Confidence Program will run from July 10 - September 4, 2012, and is comprised of two main elements: Chevy Total Confidence Pricing and Chevy Love it or Return it Guarantee.  This program is designed to provide highly attractive pricing on the remaining 2012 models in stock at Chevrolet dealerships all across America.  It also provides consumers with an opportunity to purchase a new 2012 Chevrolet, drive it for awhile, and if they decide they don't absolutely love it, they can return it, provided it qualifies under the program rules.  This combination provides the opportunity for consumers who may be new to Chevy to purchase a vehicle, get a great deal and be backed by an unprecedented "Love it or Return in Guarantee."  Customers may visit www.ChevyConfidence.com for complete program details and limitations.

Chevy Total Confidence Pricing Overview:

Chevy Total Confidence Pricing will ensure the same great "no need to negotiate" deal for everyone.  The Chevy Total Confidence Price includes all current incentives and will apply to all new and unused 2012 Chevrolet models.  The price you see displayed is the price you pay (tax, title and license are extra).

2014 Impala announced

Totally redesigned. Aggressively refined.

This is Impala like you’ve never seen before.

How does a legend that runs more than 50 years deep become the pinnacle of style, innovation and performance for the next generation? The answer lies in the all-new 2014 Chevrolet Impala.

Impala has always been a flagship for Chevrolet. But a leader should never rest on the laurels of its past — especially when it wears the Chevy bowtie. So, when it came time to reinvent one of the brand’s most iconic nameplates, Chevy designers and engineers reached far into the future and shaped it in the present. The end result is a stunning new interpretation of the Impala that’s only recognizable by its signature badge.

Sculptural, athletic, head-turning design

Form and function thoughtfully converge in the 2014 Impala design. The exterior is characterized by smooth, flowing contours that are as visually stunning as they are aerodynamic. Poised on standard 20-inch wheels, the stance of the 2014 Impala is both aggressive and confident — a reflection of the power, efficiency and comfort drivers will enjoy when they take the wheel.

Upscale, refined, spacious interior

When you first step into the 2014 Impala, you immediately notice how roomy and quiet it is. Yet, at the same time, you also feel uniquely connected to the environment. That’s because the design of the interior is deliberately driver-centric. The instrument panel flows around the cockpit. The controls are ergonomically placed. Rich chrome and wood accents, sumptuous available leather-appointed seating and unique available ambient lighting elevate the luxurious feel. Overall, it’s the type of experience that makes driving truly rewarding.

Dynamic, spirited, efficient performance

No one wants to sacrifice power for fuel efficiency. That’s why the 2014 Impala offers three engine choices to suit your needs: the available 303-horsepower 3.6L V6 engine that goes from 0 to 60 in 6.8 seconds and offers 28 MPG3 on the highway, the standard 2.5L 4-cylinder engine that delivers 31 MPG2 on the highway and 195 horsepower, and the 2.4L 4-cylinder engine with E-assist that delivers and estimated 35 MPG2 on the highway and 182 horsepower. Either way, enhanced driving dynamics and premium rack-mounted electric power steering make for a nimble, responsive ride.

Advanced, intuitive infotainment technology

The 2014 Impala is equipped with the newest Chevrolet MyLink™4 in-car infotainment system, which seamlessly integrates Bluetooth®.wireless for select phones, advanced touch-screen technology and natural voice recognition. It allows drivers to make calls, stream music from online services like Pandora,® operate USB-connected devices —and so much more — with ease. They can even customize the high-resolution 8-inch color touch-screen for quicker access to the features they use most. It’s advanced technology that makes connectivity a whole lot simpler.

Smart, proactive safety features

Impala also gets numerous safety enhancements for 2014. Its structure incorporates more high-strength steel than before along with 10 standard air bags8 to help mitigate the impact of a collision. Advanced safety technologies are also available, including Lane Departure Warning, Forward Collision Alert and Full-Speed Range Adaptive Cruise Control with Collision Mitigation Braking,9 Rear Park Assist with Rearview Camera and Side Blind Zone Alert with Cross-Traffic Radar Alert. These available features proactively help protect against the unexpected.

Coming in early Spring 2013

The arrival of the 2014 Impala is a milestone for Chevrolet, as it demonstrates how the brand’s longstanding commitment to excellence is advanced by uncompromising vision and continuous innovation.

“The momentum at Chevrolet continues to build with the debut of the 10th generation of the Impala, one of the brand’s most enduring and cherished nameplates,” says Chris Perry, vice president of Global Chevrolet Marketing. “The new Impala further strengthens Chevrolet’s passenger car lineup by giving consumers a full-size sedan that balances the desire for distinction with engaging driving dynamics.”

Hendrick Chevy Provides Volt

Earlier this month Rick Hendrick Chevrolet provided the Chevy Volt used by S.C. Representative Chip Limehouse to highlight a bill for a state tax credit.  Hendrick employee Chad Petrey brought the car to Columbia and handed the keys to Rep. Limehouse who took the electric car for a spin around the Statehouse grounds.

The bill, which is sponsored by Reps. Jim Merrill (R), Chip Limehouse (R), Leon Stavrinakis (D) and Peter McCoy (R), would allow for $500,000 to be used for $2,000 income tax credits for state residents who purchase or lease a plug-in hybrid from a South Carolina dealership.

The credits are awarded on a first come, first served basis.

Port City Corvette Club Show 2010

Just a few of the Corvettes on display at the show.

Early Saturday morning the roar of Corvettes, old and new, could be heard West of the Ashley.  Corvette owners from near and far brought their pride and joys to display at Rick Hendrick Chevrolet for the Port City Corvette Club's annual show.  The Club was host to the National Convention for the International Council of Corvette Clubs.

The week long schedule of events included beach picnics, cookouts, a fashion show and dance, an awards banquet and of course the show.  Clubs from Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, Florida, Maryland, Missouri, Georgia, Tennessee, Kentucky, Texas, Arkansas and South Carolina were represented.  A very special guest was also in attendance - Wilmer "Wil" Cooksey, Jr., the former Bowling Green plant manager.

Comer Williams of Williams Carpets with Wil Cooksey.

Mr. Cooksey was manager at the Corvette factory from 1993-2008, when he retired from GM following a very distinguished career.  A very "hands on" manager, Mr. Cooksey made it a mission to produce the highest quality sports car that America had seen.   Teamwork and respect were key words for his work groups - everyone felt they were a partner in the introduction of the C4 - C6 Corvette generations.
To gain a closeness with the customer, he arranged special access for new Vette owners who wanted to help with the production of their new car. Mr. Cooksey also has the distinction of having the 2008 427 Limited Edition Z06 named for him.
Wilmer "Wil" Cooksey with his Limited Edition "Wil Cooksey Special"

Only 505 Z06's were equipped with the special paint, wheels and 427 embroidered seats that comprised the "Wil Cooksey Special."  He also signed and numbered each car's armrest.

Now retired, Wil still contributes to the automotive industry through his membership on a number of Boards, including the National Corvette Museum where he works with the VIP Program, the Scrapbook Program and the Museum Delivery Program.

The industry continues to honor Mr. Cooksey as demonstrated by the award he will be receiving in August at the annual Gunnison Car Show.  A life long collector and Corvette enthusiast, Mr. Cooksey will be awarded the Lee Iacocca Award which is given for dedication to excellence in perpetuating the American automotive tradition.

Other special Corvette's were on display as well.

This 1979 Vette was brought in by Steve Cochran.  His mother, Mary Giza purchased it new off of our showroom floor.

Ralph Tileston of Summerville, SC brought his 1977 model that was the 499,997th Vette to come off the line in Kentucky.

Over 100 Corvette's were at the show.

Rick Hendrick Chevy was proud to be a part of this fun celebration of an American icon.

Lights! Camera! Action!

Once again our very special American flag is taking center stage!  Earlier this month we received a request  to use our building and the flag as the backdrop for a scene in the feature film Little Red Wagon.  If you were in the West Ashley area June 4th, you may have seen the extras, camera crews, wardrobe trailers and police escorts on and around our grounds.  We were happy to accomodate the cast and crew as they filmed the scene for this very special story.  Little Red Wagon tells the true story of Zach Bonner, an eight-year-old boy with a true heart for giving.  After Hurricane Charlie came through his home town of Tampa, Zach used his toy wagon to collect water, food, and clothing to help families made homeless by the storm.  After that experience, he has continued to help homeless children through his Little Red Wagon Foundation.  The real Zach made a number of walks to promote his cause and is currently on his longest venture yet, from Tampa to Los Angeles.   Congratulations to Zach and to this great cast and crew who are bringing this story to everyone.  We were happy to help!

Baseball, Hot Dogs, Apple Pie, Tatoos and Chevrolet

While on tour, Grave Maker, a punk group based in Vancouver, got their van tuned up at a shop in Virginia.  As they drove to Charleston the van started having problems.  When they saw Rick Hendrick Chevrolet they decided to pull in and see what we could do.  Happily we were able to diagnose and correct the problem while they waited.  Just another example of our award winning service department stepping in to save the day.

Employees at Rick Hendrick Chevrolet in Charleston had the opportunity to meet with Rick Hendrick and senior members from our management team when they stopped in for a visit last week.  Mr. Hendrick was accompanied by Jim Huzl, President/CEO; Tom Blocker, Sr. VP East/COO; and Gary Davis, Sr. VP Retail Support/COO.

Our team members filled the service drive and joined in the cheer "Together! We Drive! To Win! In 2010!"

Mr. Hendrick took a few moments to field questions about the Hendrick Automotive Group and of course, the Hendrick Motorsports teams.  Everyone had a chance to meet with each member of the management team, get autographs, and photos.

Mr. Hendrick, Mr. Huzl, Mr. Blocker and Mr. Davis then joined our General Manager, Rick Pulcino on a tour of the dealership which included a stop in our Collision Center to see the classic 1969 Chevelle we are restoring.

Johnson Wins Historic Fourth Cup

Homestead recap: Johnson wins historic fourth Cup

HOMESTEAD, Fla. (Nov. 22, 2009) – With an historic fourth straight NASCAR Sprint Cup championship in sight, spotter Earl Barban calmly coached Jimmie Johnson into the final lap at Homestead-Miami Speedway on Sunday night.
"Just need one more lap, my man," Barban radioed Johnson. "Coming to the checkered flag this time. All clear.
"It's definitely been a pleasure."

Johnson kept his emotions in check long enough to cross the finish line fifth in the No. 48 Lowe's Chevrolet and cement his spot in the record book. With his 2009 title, Johnson is the only driver in Sprint Cup history to win four championships in a row. He matched the legendary Cale Yarborough after he won the Cup 2006-2008. Johnson's crew chief Chad Knaus also becomes the first in Cup history to four-peat as the champion.

"I don't know how to begin to thank all you guys," Johnson belted out over the radio to his team. "Thank you so much. How about some history? I can't believe this."

Johnson entered Sunday's season finale at Homestead with the task of finishing 25th or better to earn the title and hold off teammate Mark Martin -- the lone remaining Chase contender with a mathematical shot. Johnson accomplished his mission by starting from the pole position, leading twice for 28 laps and scoring his seventh top-five finish of the Chase.

Martin, driver of the No. 5 Kellogg's/CARQUEST Chevrolet, lined up fourth for Sunday's race and spent most of the event jockeying for position inside the top 15. With his 12th-place result, Martin finished the 2009 season second in the championship standings. Jeff Gordon, driver of the No. 24 DuPont Chevrolet, crossed the stripe sixth and took third place in the standings, which gives Hendrick Motorsports a 1-2-3 sweep. The organization is the first ever to capture the top three final spots in NASCAR's Chase format.

Dale Earnhardt Jr., driver of the No. 88 National Guard/AMP Energy Chevrolet, started 32nd but battled his way into the top 10 early in Sunday's race. Handling became an issue, though, after Earnhardt brushed wall early, and he finished 28th.

Veteran's Day 2009

Everyone at Rick Hendrick Chevrolet would like to take this opportunity to thank our Veteran's today. For over 25 years our giant flag has been flying in recognition of our nations Veteran's and service men and women. On Friday, November 11, 1983 the flag was dedicated to our Armed Forces by the Honorable J. Strom Thurmond, United States Senator. Over the years the flag has become a landmark we proudly share with the resident's of the Charleston area. Again, thank you to all of our service members, both past and present.
